Hope – the miracle pill

Source: Reaching out to the sun by Wix

A 20-year-old boy who lived a fairly mediocre life once had a near-death accident that caused a coma and fracture of many bones in his body. He woke up from the coma and doctors gave him the prognosis that he would never walk again. After some time not only did he walk but also participated in the marathon. A few years later he was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer which he overcame after much difficulty. He didn’t stop there. Today, he is the author of the best selling book series, The Miracle Morning, and one of the highest-rated keynote speakers of America, Hal Elrod. Elrod’s story makes us believe in the magic of hope, one which makes us realize that miracles are possible if we have hope in our heart even in the most gloomy moments of our life.

Life is unpredictable and not everything is in our control. Things that are not in our control tend to make us feel hopeless and does not let us see the big picture. This tends to make us feel lost and unhappy. One thing to always realize is that no one is free from experiencing challenging situations and we need to focus on what we can control. We need to always realize that even though everything is too hard right now it will be okay soon. Just like how there is a silver lining to every dark cloud and like how after every storm the sun shines brighter. Similarly, after every dark hour, there is a brighter tomorrow. We need to stay calm and hope for the best. Only hope will get us through this.

In an unsteady world faced with a pandemic, hope is a necessity. Hope drives our motivations and helps us to be optimistic by making us think that anything is possible. It keeps us motivated to move towards our goals by giving us the strength to follow our dreams. It helps us to rise above all odds and face another challenging day with all the strength we have.

Hope therapy is practiced by psychologists who follow positive psychology to treat patients. Building hope helps to reduce stress and builds optimism and positive thinking in people prone to negative thought pattern. Hope gets rid of stress. When we realize there is a way out of every hindrance it reduces our worries. Thus, in turn, improving our mental health which in turn brings an improvement in our physical health.

When we look at centenarians, we realize how hope can shape us in leading a good and long life. Hope gives us a reason to live, a reason to smile. The thought that even though things might be hard at the moment, it will be better soon. When the world seems miserable and the walls come closing down there is only one thought that helps you rise above all. The thought that you will be okay. Thus, let's hold on to hope and get over one of the most challenging times of all.
